Disconnected Generation

Unlike the “connected generation” or “digital native” myth, Generation O are, in reality, a generation of youth growing up removed or isolated from the traditional social infrastructures of their parents. Youth increasingly have less access to unstructured play, free time and ability to explore their immediate physical environment due to a) education pressures b) helicopter parents and c) a media environment that fosters a negative image of the outside world. To satisfy their Social Drivers, youth seek to rebalance the deficit employing technologies to facilitate offline interaction.
