We asked youth what they thought about Operators. Here’s Emma (aged 24) from Capetown, South Africa:
“Actually I have converted a few people! I have a lot of friends who use Cell-C and some of them are always complaining about the bad network and how msgs take forever to get delivered, signal disappears etc. I have always been a fan of Vodacom and find they are just constantly reliable. I have never had problems with signal and I always get my msgs etc on time. I was always saying to my that they really should switch to Vodacom – but at the time their main reason for not switching was that they did not want to lose their phone number. Then Number Porting came along and you could switch to another network without losing your number. I think at that time about 5 of my friends switched to Vodacom and they have never looked back! The ones that didn’t swap over were ones who were tied into cellphone contracts at the time and could not get out of them. When it comes to a network provider people are looking for the cheapest most reliable option that offers you a lot of value added services – whatever company that can provide that, is the one that will be on top at the time.”
