Arun, thanks for including the piece I wrote on Starbucks and social responsibility. It's an example of a company that is bringing social and environmental responsibility mainstream by integrating choices and products for the consumer into its slew of Starbucks locations.

Great blog and topic.

Just got back from the Teens Turning Green summit today and you wanna talk social values and causes, wow!

http://www.teensturninggreen.org

Powerhouse panels, organic yummies and a 'green spa' for girls that's a write-up in itself. I told the core team we need to hook 'em up with the Teens in Tech Conf. entrepreneurs to pay it forward as these kids are ALL doing amazing work whether it's 'cause' or 'commercial'...the values and youth culture ARE the brand. And they know how to leverage it. Inspiring.

[...] I am still fascinated by mobileyouth.org. They are engaging in some really challenging ways of communicating with young people. This morning i read this: Sell your values not your brand. You are increasingly acute to the social values behind the brand rather than the product of the marcomms department. In an era of real transparency thanks to twitter, blogging and Youtube - brands can no longer fake it. Starbucks and The GAP are case in point for youth brands that talk values but walk industrial. So what’s next in social causes and values? (see full article here) [...]
